This half marathon is in SE Kansas, only 20 minutes from Joplin, MO, with access to three states within a half hour. In the heart of the Four State Area, the We Run Kansas Half Marathon will take place in both the city and rural areas of the county seat of Cherokee County. The half marathon will take place during Columbus Days weekend, which will include a 5k race on Saturday, a hot air balloon glow, a parade, vendors, and balloon launches on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Event details and schedule
The We Run Kansas Half Marathon will take place during the Columbus Days festival weekend in Columbus, KS. The race will begin at 6:30AM on Sunday, October 12th,2014. There will be chip timing and finisher medals for all runners who complete the course. Awards will be given to the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers as well as for 1st place male and female winners in each age group. This half marathon is sure to attract runners from beginner to intermediate to advanced. The race will begin at the Cherokee County Courthouse, run through portions of the business district, and then through beautiful rural countryside. The final two miles of the race will be run through the business areas, and will end at the city park. Hydration stations will be provided at miles 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and the finish line. The course has an excellent mix of flat areas and gradual hills, with one highway overpass. A short portion of the course changes from asphalt to off-road gravel, then back to asphalt for the remainder of the course. Walkers and strollers are welcome. Bring your family and enjoy the day!
